Happy Birthday to Me!

Last Tuesday was my 35th birthday.  It wasn't any extraordinary, but I did have a nice day.  I made some baked french toast for us all to enjoy (but really it was for me). Eddie, Edith and I had a picnic lunch with our friends Matt, Janis, Ronie and Josie at a park near our house.  They are doing kids' concerts at noon during Tuesday, so we enjoyed some kiddie music. Of course no birthday is complete without cake.  Unfortunately poor little Edith couldn't have any just yet, so we gave her, her first chocolate cookie.  She didn't seem very disappointed that she couldn't eat the cake!

Picnic lunch - it was pretty warm that day

Happy, but sweaty kids
Yummy cake

I was eyeing up the cake the night before!

What's this cookie?

Look at how neatly  he is eating the cake! He likes the "white part" best

Father's Day 2012

Once again I am seriously behind on my blogging, so expect lots of entries this week as I attempt to get caught up before our big weekend! There probably won't be too much content, but lots of pictures!

To begin, we have Father's Day from this year. It was a lovely day in which Daddy (Uncas) got to sleep in, eat an apple pancake for breakfast, and then he was off to his 90 minute massage. In the afternoon he went for a run and then we all went out for ice cream - yum!  Hopefully it a nice relaxing day for him.

Not on Father's Day, but I love pictures of him reading books to the kids

"Camping"

Our friends' family hosts a fishing tournament every year up at Mille Lacs.  The past few years Uncas has been partners with our friend Matt, but last year Uncas had to skip out because of the impending due date.  This year we decided to brave it with the kids in a tent!

I didn't get to take too many pictures because we were busy wrangling kids.  It wasn't the worst experience, but we'll need to practice how to behave in a tent a little bit more before we try camping again.  They seriously went nuts inside the tent, running around, bouncy off walks - out of control!  Edith obviously took her cues from Eddie.  It took us forever to get them to sleep, but once they did, they slept through the night.  Eddie, who has NEVER spent the night in our bed sleeping with us, spent the night in between the two of us in our sleeping bags.  We of course spent $40 on a dinosaur sleeping bag for him which he never slept in!!!

But - that said - we really did have a fun time.  We got to spend lots of time with our favorite twins, Ronie and Josie.  And we got to spend a lot of time playing outside. Uncas was able to fish, although he didn't catch one himself.  He and Matt did place 5th out of 21 boats, so that wasn't too bad.

Everyday Life

I have a bunch of pictures that I have taken lately of just random, day-to-day activities.  I thought I would just capture them in one post.  In no particular order - our life the past couple of weeks:

Eddie helping me marinade some steak

Uncas reading with Edith

BBQ with Josie and Ronie (and Matt and Janis too!)

Grand Opening!

Two weekends ago Richfield had a grand opening of their new city hall/fire station/police station.  We live just a few short blocks away (the park behind the buildings is our neighborhood park), so Uncas took Eddie over in the morning and after Edith woke up from her morning nap, we met up with them.  They had so much on display to see including the fire trucks, several police vehicles, their K-9 unit, a state trooper car and helicopter! The buildings were open for us to tour, they had a fire hose out for kids to spray, fire gear to try on, a bouncy house with a slide, free root beer and popcorn. It was so much fun.
Yay for fire trucks!

Here's another one!

How we spend our days

Yikes - I can't believe that I haven't posted this whole month so far!  We have been really busy, but I am determined to catch up because June proves to be a very busy month!

At the end of May we got this for our yard:
Heading out for the first time to see his new "playground"

Eddie checking out the climbing wall while the worker finishes up installation

Three swings - my personal favorite feature! The kids no longer have to take turns on one swing!

I see you!

The weather has been amazing and nice and so pretty much we are outside for hours.  It's kind of nice since the past three summers I have had a newborn or pregnant/sick.  I guess I'm making up for lost time.  Anyhow - the children love it! I am often found pushing kids on swings, or going down the slide with the kids.  Eddie calls it his playground.  They love being outside and this certainly helps keep them entertained!
