Vacation at the Lake 2012

Last week we packed up the car and boat, sent Sammy off  to a friend's house and drove to northern WI for a week's long vacation with my parents.  We had so much fun and can't wait to go back again.  I took a lot of pictures during the week, so I am going to spread them out in few posts over the next week or so.

 The kids "helped" Uncas hook the boat trailer up to the car and pack things up.  Then we were ready to roll!

 Edith at the very last minute decided to grab her Cubs hat - who knows why, but she insisted on wearing it! We arrived at the cabin in Mercer, WI around 3 pm.  My parents were there and we unloaded the cars and set about exploring the cabin and the yard.

 The kids spent a lot of time playing with the rocks outside the front door!

Later that evening Eddie, JoJo and Uncas went out for Eddie's very first boat ride.

And that sort of concludes Day 1!  We really packed in a lot of fun in 7 short days!!!  Stay tuned for more!

Fire Fighters

Last Halloween Eddie dressed up as a firefighter.  I decided to hang on to the costume.  Good thing because he enjoys pretending to be a firefighter almost every day.  Edith also likes to pretend to be one too.

Wordless Wednesday - Kitchen Helpers

Dance Party

We have been doing a lot of dancing - primarily in the kitchen (cause that's where the radio is located).  We like to turn the music up loud and away we dance and sing!  Edith has turned into quite a good dancer.  This is one of our current favorite songs.  Eddie's current favorite dance move is spinning in circles, which he does while on his little red car!

Truck Extravaganza!

Last Saturday a park in Northeast Minneapolis had a Truck Extravaganza! You might recall that Eddie went to something similar in the spring closer to our house, but it was rainy and Edith and I decided to stay home.  This weekend was beautiful, so we all went and had lunch there too.  There were so many different trucks!  The kids were in heaven!

Vacation - Family Reunion

The first weekend in August we went to a family reunion on Uncas's side of the family.  It took place in south east Iowa and since the drive was going to be long no matter what - we decided to take advantage of the proximity of my parent's house and stopped there on the way down and the way back for a night.  The kids had an absolute blast being on "vacation". We stayed in a huge beautiful cabin, there was a little fishing pond, a playground, and lots of family to play with. And of course lots of yummy food.  We look forward to doing it again next year!

When we went back to my parents on Sunday, they have a little train for children to ride on during the weekends.  Of course we had to take Eddie to go on that. He had a blast and Edith thought it was nice too!

This week I am trying to get caught up on all our summer fun! In July we had Papa stay with us for a weekend. While he and Uncas went fishing a couple of times, Eddie did not want to be left out of the fun.  So we went over to Lake Harriet, so Eddie could fish too!

He caught quite a few fish. We then had some ice cream and decided to go for a trolley ride too!
