Truck Extravaganza!

Last Saturday a park in Northeast Minneapolis had a Truck Extravaganza! You might recall that Eddie went to something similar in the spring closer to our house, but it was rainy and Edith and I decided to stay home.  This weekend was beautiful, so we all went and had lunch there too.  There were so many different trucks!  The kids were in heaven!
Each kid could decorate their own hard hat.

Vacation - Family Reunion

The first weekend in August we went to a family reunion on Uncas's side of the family.  It took place in south east Iowa and since the drive was going to be long no matter what - we decided to take advantage of the proximity of my parent's house and stopped there on the way down and the way back for a night.  The kids had an absolute blast being on "vacation". We stayed in a huge beautiful cabin, there was a little fishing pond, a playground, and lots of family to play with. And of course lots of yummy food.  We look forward to doing it again next year!

There was a tree stump/trunk in the middle of the cabin

The far bed is where Eddie slept and fell out of every night!

When we went back to my parents on Sunday, they have a little train for children to ride on during the weekends.  Of course we had to take Eddie to go on that. He had a blast and Edith thought it was nice too!

Fishing with Papa

This week I am trying to get caught up on all our summer fun! In July we had Papa stay with us for a weekend. While he and Uncas went fishing a couple of times, Eddie did not want to be left out of the fun.  So we went over to Lake Harriet, so Eddie could fish too!

He caught quite a few fish. We then had some ice cream and decided to go for a trolley ride too!

Some Words Wednesday

Ugh - I just looked at the calendar and it finally hit me that it's July 18 already!  Where has the month gone?! After the party you would think I would have time to keep caught up, but we have been busy doing this:

And then Eddie went through this:
Bag of nuks - he had the same 4 ones his whole life!!!!

Handing them over to Ronie who promptly put the bag in her mouth!
And then somehow my little baby has turned into a little girl who likes to just go over and sit on the stairs for no reason if other than to look completely cute and adorable!

I hope everyone has been trying to stay cool.  I hope to post a better update soon!

1st Birthday Recap

As you can see from my previous post, Edith was feeling a bit under the weather for her birthday.  It started on Friday and I was so hopeful that she would be feeling better by Saturday.  Unfortunately she was feeling worse.  It was the perfect storm of teeth, shots from Thursday, a little cold and this fever/rash thing.  And she typically doesn't like large groups anyways, but she was a trooper and made it through the day, mostly inside.

While she was hanging out inside or sitting on someone's lap (she barely walked for like 3 days), everyone else was battling the heat outside.  The kids had a great time playing on the playset, playing at the water table and running through the sprinkler.  They also enjoyed the cookies and birthday cupcakes.

Edith was not impressed at all with the birthday cake.  She wanted no part in eating her cupcake.  We tried giving it to her a while later inside with just a couple of people around and she finally enjoyed some frosting, but she still has yet to actually eat some cake!  She did ok opening presents and received many fun toys, books and some adorable outfits.

Thank you all who celebrated her big day with us!  Now that Edith is feeling better, she is sure enjoying her new toys.  Of course big brother Eddie had a lot of fun breaking them in for her :-)
