Eddie has always been an earlier mover. He rolled over, crawled and walked very earlier. But in terms of him talking, he wasn't as fast. I know that usually in children they develop one more quickly than the other. Clearly it was his gross motor skills that he was busy working on. I had wondered if he would be behind with his language skills. Sure he babbled a lot, but in terms of actual words, he was rather lacking.
I should know better than to worry . . . over the past couple of weeks, we have had a vocabulary explosion! All of the sudden he is saying more and more words each day. And he will actually try and repeat words if you ask him to. Then yesterday - he spoke a sentence! Not shocking, it's one that he hears over and over again each. That sentence is "Sammy, no bark!" I was so surprised because while he has the word "no" down, he has never tried to say bark before!
Here's a list of words that he currently says (I am sure this isn't really that interesting to most people, but I want to document it and right now this is easier than filling out his baby book!):
airplane, come, no, yes, banana, book, sock, shoe, Sammy, baby, mama, dada, bread, car, truck, hat, clock, hot dog, hi, bye, up, please, thank you, pasta (I'm not even including the list of animal noises that he makes)
It's so fun to be able to communicate with him and you can tell that he loves being able to communicate with us. I can see there has been less frustration with certain things. And the look on his face is priceless, because he is so proud of himself, and of course we are so proud of him too!
